The modern version of taming of the shrew has many references throughout the film Elizabethan era such as the strong role of the female character, the black clothing, high neck line, Kate's hair style with it tied back into a bun with a high fore head and wonky parting which also indicates that the character is quite quirky. Kate's sister Bianca also resembles a beauty from the resonant with pale complexion and dark hair. Other major aspects I noticed throughout the film is how the main female role is against getting married.
The costumes and jewelry are very Elizabethan as the mothers velvet outfit and very expensive looking necklace indicating wealth also wearing black and purple indicating upper class and the fur coats show more wealth. The scenery is very Elizabethan also as the chandelier gives off the impression of them having money and the colour theme of the rooms being very red and golden enhancing that idea of them being upper class. In conclusion I feel that the Elizabethan era has influenced the film in a huge way even by the small indicators eg: the hair style, colour of clothing and accessories.
