Face charts

a
Contempory colours face chart
Contemporty means the colours that are directly opposite eachother on the colour wheel I choose to do pink and green pink as my highlighter and green as my contour I feel that the colours work well in an odd way and could be expanded

Analogous Makeup- using the colours blue purple and green from the colour wheel
I used purple as the darkest contour leading into green then lightly with the blue.
This is my faviourite look as I feel it works the best its a monochromatic look I choose blue kryolan eye shadow to create his look.

My look my partners design

This is my second attempt of my final timed assessment as the original images with my original model got deleted so I had to start again which is a disappointment for myself as I much preferred my first timed assessment as it suited the model better as I dont feel the colours really suited this model  and I had to work from memory with this one as my partner wasn't in and she had the face chart but I was still confident as I had practiced it a few times and new the process on how it was applied.
Considering it was a last minuet I feel it went well I lie the contouring and the slight gold on the top of the lip I feel it made it effective. Over all I feel that this has taught me a major lesson that I have to bring my own SD card in on the day to prevent situations like this happening.

My design and my partner doing the look

Over all I'm pleased with my partners interpretation of my final look I feel she followed my design well and went through my step to step that I had wrote for her I especially love the contouring she did on my cheeks the only fault is that she ran out of time and didnt have enough time to do my lips the way I originally wanted more pointed upper lips although I still feel the it works well with the basic lip colour. We worked well as a team as we wernt in the same group we organised times where we could discuss our ideas and try out certain techniques we also doubled up our lessons so that we had even more time practicing. Although at first I was anxious of having a partner in another group as I felt it may leave us with less practice time that everyone else I feel that it was for the best as I've got to work with someone I usually wouldnt have and It gave me a realistic Idea of what a make-up artist does.

Where have all the surfing cowboys gone

photo sc2_zpsc05567bc.jpgThe first thing I notice from this image is the way shes holding her hands behind her back, and how her whole outfit is while and that one foot is raised and the other is coverd in then I noticed the writting on the background and the contrast between the blue and white I also noticed the car in the left corner I feel this image was taken at a bad angle as it seems un even and is quite off putting for the image Also the shadowing is almost cutting the image in half If you think about rule of thirds the audience's eyeline will be in the wrong place. Although the lighting is hitting the model well almost making her look like an angel and it almost seems like she is floating. The model is protraying in my eyes slight confidence as she looks like she hasnt got a care in the world although the arms are distracting from the clothes in the image which it is ment to be advertising. I dont partially like this image although I feel it could be really effective if the angle had changed o the car wasnt in the back ground and was just the model and the writting. I also noticed the security camera if that was cropped out there would be no objects distracting the viewer.

Review of Elizabeth and Elizabeth the Golden age

The film Elizabeth staring Cate Blanchet The film was based from the begging of Elizabeths Reign as Queen and how she dealth with the struggles and issues of being the Queen. The film won an Oscar for the best make-up which is truly inspiring.  What I liked about the film was seeing the transformation of Elizabeth going from girl to women. The film was set in 1558 so Elizabeth was 25 at the time. The director  Shekhar Kapur I feel gave a realistic and relatable  view of Elizabeth as the opening seen she is seen dancing which makes her seem like an upbeat person. He also portrays  the wealth and royality aspect so well by the colour schemes the use of gold
and red decorated the walls throughout the film.  I like how throughout the film slight changes are made to the hair and makeup to make her seem more mature  such as applying more make-up to emphize shes aging therefore needs more applied and her hair going from down and virginal to up in more mature designed hair dues still off her face. On set there was a large make-up team there were 22 people from makeup artist to special effects and a hair team on stand.

Elizabeth the Golden age
Elizabeth: The Golden Age

This is film where you get to see the matured Queen where she is more confident in her role and more empowerd. The film is set in 1588 which would make the Queen 52 at the start of them film It was set during the spanish Armada and Mary Queen of Scotts which Queen Elizabeth overcame both of them. You see alot of wigs used throughout this film on Elizabeth I feel its to be more realistic as Elizabeth would have been wearing wigs due to the amount of hair lost, and you notice shes wearing higher necklined clothing to cover up wrinkles etc. She is paler and her cheeks are more rouge during the film symbolising her getting older and needing more make-up although you don't see a big transformation between the first and section film which I feel is a shame as she is alot older in the second and I feel that could have been brought to life abit more. I don't know if this is to re and act that Elizabeth controlled the way she was seen by society therefore she can still control how she is seen in this generation. If so I think the director Shekhar Kapur is very clever in what he has done. I loved the design of this film as well as the first every aspect of the 16th century taken into consideration from the clothes to the decor and the contrast between rich and poor was executed amazingly with it being so dramatic with the poor litterally wearing rags and the rich wearing extravagant garments. I also love how even people in the background were well thought about with amazing hair designs I felt like I was actually In the 16th century while watching. I also loved the basic makeup on Elizabeth I feel it made it more realistic

Practicing my partners design

        Step by step
·         Cleanse, tone and moisturise
·         Use illamasqua matte primer
·         Mix illamasqua skin base foundation and Kryolan 1adoster together to create a thicker base
·         Set with illamasqua loose powder
·         Create a smokey eye effect with Kryolan ‘curry leaf’ and ‘lemon grass’
·         Then apply Kryolan aqua colour gold colour using Mac medium mixing gel with it.
·         Contour with Illamasqua blush duo  ‘lover’

·         Apply LC09 to the lips
This is the first Design my partner had I feel it went quite well as we were in different group we didnt at first have as much time to practice as we had different time tables although we worked around that by meeting after university hours and doubling up on lessons. I feel that this look was effective although I realise I have to blend into the neck and ears for the finishing look,

My partner decided to change certain aspects of the makeup look such as not having a white complexion and going for more of a natural tone and decided that instead of using the kryolan eye shadow pallet to use the Kryolan supra colour pallet. And she wasn't sure at first if she wanted blocked out eyebrows or not. So the next lesson I was in I practiced out the new look on myself as she wasn't able to make my lesson these were the out comes.
For this I used kryolan foundation pallet
illamasqua loose powder
Kryokan supra colour both greens combined and the gold
prit stick to block out eyebrows
I do like the outcome of both of them but do understand that    they need to be finalised and touched up which I think could have been easier to do if I had a partner while doing them

After showing this to my partner she prefered the look with not blocked out eyebrows.

Face charts for final

First Idea for a face chart I used Kryolan eyeshadows for the blusher and eyes I used a combination of Anis and Ginger and black pepper
I would have used Illamasaqua primer then Illamasqua skin base foundation
Almost ombre lips using the colour LC009
blocked out eyebrows with thin ones drawn on top
The eyes are inspired by my previous blog post from Patt Mgrath changing the colours slightly to make it feel more Elizabethan for myself.

The ways in which I changed my orginal design I decided not block out the eyebrows but to instead paint them with illamsaqua base foundation brushing them upwards creating a bushy appearance. I still wanted a pale base so I also used illamasqua primer mixed with illamasqua base foundation set with illamasqua loose powder
To contour I used Ani and ginger also Lover illamaqua blush duo the colour 'lover'
for the eyes I used kryolan eye shadow pallet with the colours Ani, Ginger and safron turner
lips I changed from ombre to LC009
I also made the eye contour look go out further because I felt it would be more effective and have a more stricking effective look.

Trying the look out on myself...

Firstly I Cleansed, Tonned and moisturised my skin then mixed Illamasqua primer and Illamsaqua skin base foundation together to create the foundation buffed that into my face, neck and ears set with Illamasqua loose powder then  started with my eyes using the colours listed above going from the lightest colour builing up to the darkest same with the contour on my cheeks painted my eyebrows with the Illamasqua skin base foundation. I did this to give my partner a visual Idea on how I wanted my out come to appear. I'm pleased with the outcome and I'm excited to see my partners interpretation

Insperation for my final design

I've taken inspiration  from pat mcgraths eye design I love how its taken so far back with contoured cheeks and dark lips I think that I will take aspects out of this look and uses it for my final design because I love the effect it has but I will proberly change the colour scheme of them look and either block out the eyebrows or paint them white with them spiked up.

Research on contemporary Elizabethan make-up

Alexander Mcqueen
touch of gold on the cupids bow of the lips and how the no eye brows is enhanced by the eye shadow almost creating almost a barrier  around them with the darkest colour at the edge with a small area of gold at the crease of the eye I love how it symbolizes Elizabethan the colours and styling of make-up makes it more modern. I love the colour scheme used The small sections of gold making it appear more high fashion in my eyes works so well as gold during the Elizabethan era being associated with wealth
I really Admire the work Pat Mcgrath did for the cat walk creating eccentric, futuristic but yet still historical with references back to the Elizabethan era. Its inspired me to think outside the box.

More Pat Mcgrath
I love this look the ombre lips and blocked out eyebrows with the drawn on eyebrows on top.The pale complexion combined with the purple make it seem more Elizabethan as The purple underneath the eyes make me think of how Elizabethans used to draw veins onto there skin to make them seem paler.
i believe this is makeup artist pat mcgrath for john galliano.
