Presentation
·         Clean clothes black clothing looks more professional
·         Flat shoes to prevent accidents
·         Washed hands to prevent spreading germs
·         Organised and clean make-up kit
  Contradictions
·         Don’t behave un- professionally or uncomfortable when seeing a skin condition.
·         Don’t diagnose skin conditions
·         Throw away cotton pads and cotton buds straight after using them
·         Don’t double dip while using spatulas
·         Use a steal pallet or the back of your hand while applying the make-up
·         Know what hazardous substances
·         Ask your client if they are allergic to anything
·         Ask if your client wears contacts so your aware while applying eye make-up
Cleaning brushes
·         Wash in 100% alcohol solution
·         Don’t use on eyes straight after cleaning
·         Wipe with a tissue
·         Every 2-3 weeks shampoo and condition brushes
·         Use a brush pot so it’s more organised
Maintenance of make-up kit
·         Make sure your kit is clean and organised.
·         Put lids and containers back on straight away to avoid spillage of products.
·         Always have brush cleaner/surgical spirt in your kit labelled clearly.
·         Make sure your make-up is in date if not throw away immediately
·         Change mascara wands every two months and never use same mascara wand on different clients.
·          Don’t use your kit on yourself
·         Don’t blow dry blow dry brushes








Assessing someone’s face
·         If there’s a contra action take the make-up off quickly
·         Know their skin type
·         Know their skin tone

Contraindications
·         Contagious bacteria skin diseases- Follicutis,Impetigo
·         Non contagious bacterial skin disorders- Acne rosacea, Boils, Ance vulgaris
·         Contagious eye disorders- conjunctivitis
·         Non Contagious eye disorders-styes
·         Insect Infestations-Lice,Scabies
·         Fungal infections-Ringworm
·         Long term congenital disorders-Psoriasis,Eczema,Dermatitis,Fungal infections- ringworms
·          Cuts and abrasions
·         Recent scar tissue- Under six months old, bruises/swelling
·         Skin cancers

Preventing Infections
·         Avoid sharing containers of make-up, spatula, individual containers
·         Use clean sponges and powder puffs
·         Don’t use make-up straight from the pallet scrape off with spatula first
·         Use individual mascara wands
·         Always clean and sterilise make-up brushes
·         Don’t put pins or clips in your mouth before putting on a client

Key terms for Identification of skin lessons
·         Macule- flat area of abnormal skin for example; freckles
·         Pustule- a raised lesion contacting pus.
·         Papule- A superficial lump not containing any fluid
·         Versicle- A small blister
·         Bulla-  A large blister
·         Scales- A build-up of flakes of dead skin
·         Crusts scabs pf droed secretions  Yellow-lymph , Green/grey-puss, black/brown- blood
