Elizabeth I in coronation robes
One of my favourite things about Elizabeth the 1st is how she controlled her image to others and
dictated how she looked to the outside world and promoting her best features. I choose this
image as it was her coronation so most of England would have seen or heard about this
image I love how her tiny waste and pale complection is emphasized  as having pale skin
was seen as a sign of riches because only poor people would catch a tan as they would be
working outside in the sun while the rich would be indoors. her hair long and down indicates
innocents and virginity the jewels showing the wealth the other items
adding to her royal status. The ermies and crown symbolises her royality the cross shows
her dedication to God and the church. The type of clothing shes wearing is very expensive
and rich looking I feel the painter was trying to portray the wealth and honour of England
at the time and how shes pure becoming a queen.
